Introduction

The charging port of the Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0 may not be functional due to internal damages or overuse. This guide will show you how to replace the charging port, which is attached to the motherboard.

  1. Use the iFixit Opening Tool to pry off the back case, moving the tool around the screen. Make sure the device is off and the SD card is removed before taking off the back casing.

  2. Use the tweezers to lift the switch connecting the back camera to the motherboard. Use your hand to remove the back camera from the motherboard.

  6. Use the tweezers to flip the switch that connects the top of the strap to the motherboard. Lift the top end of the strap with your hand and remove the strap completely from the device.

    • Ensure the blue ribbon cable is not under the motherboard upon reassembly.

    • This switch can detach from the device, but just needs to disconnect from the motherboard.

  10. Use a JIS #00 screwdriver to remove the six 4.5mm screws at the top of the motherboard. Lift the motherboard with your hand to detach the motherboard from the device.
    • Use a JIS #00 screwdriver to remove the six 4.5mm screws at the top of the motherboard.

  11. Use the soldering tool to remove the charging port.
    • Use the soldering tool to remove the charging port.

My tablet fell into a sink full of water. I may eventually have to replace the charging port. I appreciate your instructions. I think I can do it. I haven’t shopped yet for one. May I ask where one may find a replacement for the charging port? Also, is that the only part I would need? I am getting the message (approx. I can’t remember completely) “battery temperature too low, charging will take place when temperature…”. Thank you for any reply.
