Introduction

This guide shows how to remove and replace the traction cable on the Toro Walk Behind Mower 21199HD 2018.

  1. Before you begin, ensure that the mower is powered down and cool to the touch. Grab the plastic housing at the end of the spark plug wire and pull firmly to disconnect it.

  7. Tilt the mower onto its side, propping the handle up with a block of wood. Locate the end of the traction cable underneath the mower, attached to the transmission. The end of the traction cable is attached to a silver spring, and they come out as one unit.

  15. Slide the metal cable tube out of the slot on the upper cable guide. Remove the traction cable from the cable guide. Remove the traction cable from the cable guide.

  16. Remove the traction cable assembly.

    • During reassembly, ensure the cable has adequate slack and operates as expected before tightening the bolts on the cable guides.
