Introduction
If the keyboard of your Toshiba Satellite C655-S5142 isn't responding to attempts to type, this guide will help you to properly replace the previous components. If your keyboard is faulty, then it's likely that one key or multiple keys are no longer functioning as intended. Before you start the replacement, check to see if cleaning out the sensors by using a flathead screwdriver to gently pry up the keys, then dusting the keys using a dust blower or safe brush, before deciding to replace the keyboard itself. It may just need to be cleaned in order to function properly. Try to type a sentence or two using the faulty keys in order to make sure it's not resolved.
This is a sensitive part of the computer, so try to keep your area clean of food or dust while you work. If crumbs or dust get inside of the laptop's sensors, it may not function properly, even after replacing it.
Before beginning, ensure the laptop itself is turned off and disconnected from any external power source, such as a charger or hard drive.
