Caution: Use a non-contact voltage tester or a multimeter to make sure that the breaker is not electrically charged. If you do not have access to a multimeter, tap the breaker box with the back of your hand. If you use the palm of your hand and there is a charge, your hand will clench, making it hard to remove your hand from the box.
