I took this on. I though it would be easy, but it did get a little difficult for me mostly because I’m an old guy and my eyes aren’t that great anymore, so handling the tiny screws and getting the microphone and proximity sensor assembly all back together right was a challenge. I think if I get one of those hood things with the magnifying glasses I’ll be a better iFixiter. Other than that everything worked just as I expected and as described in the tutorials. I completed a successful replacement of my wife’s cracked iPHone 6 display. She’s very happy and I’m very happy because we saved a good chunk of change and she only had to be without her phone for about 4 hours. It did get a little “dicey” after the first hour of her not having her phone…but…mission accomplished….LOL!!! Thanks iFixit!
Great stuff, question, when I was removing the intake manifold, apparantly one of the bolts was not “captive” and I heard it fall, I am confident it went down, because I heard it hit various places in it’s trajectory then I heard it hit the garage door grate. I’ve searched considerably and not been able to find the bolt, any idea where I can purchase a replacement?
One more thing concerns safety. Do not throw the old battery in your trash, not even in your garage, it can cause a fire if there’s enough charge left and it shorts. Dispose of this at a local battery recycling place! That’s important and should probably be included in the instructions. Thanks iFixit community!
Great stuff iFixit, the only place I got stuck on was the removal of the adhesive strips. It just did not want to cooperate and pull out along the sides. I had to go to plan “B” to try to pry the battery up enough to get the white tape out. I used a prying device to delicately lift it, then I used the tweezers and a small exacto blade to carefully scrape the tape off the inside aluminum pan. This is the “stickiest” part of the procedure. I got it done and then the rest of the repair was just as described, reassembly was non-incidental, phone powered up, and I proceeded to calibrate the battery. You might consider another tutorial for step by step to calibrate the battery, (maybe already here?) I had to go off this site to find those instructions, which are also simple, just have to follow the proceedure!
