I'm Taylor Dixon! I was born in the good ol' nineties. I spend my time climbing, cycling, tinkering, and binging internet content. I also love dogs, even though I'm allergic to them.
Technical Writing is my game.
With much excitement, I joined the iFixit team in the 2018th year of our world.
Why writing? Why technical? I've long been deeply immersed in the technology scene. The first smartphones started to emerge when I was in middle school, and I've been fascinated with them all along the way. I've owned more gadgets than I can count, and I've dismantled more than I own. I found tech writing during my junior year of college when I fell out of love with computer science, but still wanted a career close to technology. It was then that I realized that I was better suited for explaining technology than I was for creating it.
How did I make it from Utah to California? Well, I put all my stuff in the car and I drove for 12 hours! It was a big life change, but when you get a chance to be a part of the dream team, you don't turn it down. ;)

A répondu à : What do I need to fix my Joy Con Directional Buttons?Hey @daewok! It sounds like you could have one of two problems: (1) The left button contact is bad (or has something stuck to it). In this case, you would just need to replace the button itself—you can find sets on Ebay or Amazon for pretty cheap, and follow this guide for the repair. (2) The contact pad on the motherboard could also be bad, in which case you would need to replace the whole board (which is also pretty cheap on Ebay). We don’t have a specific guide for a motherboard replacement yet, but the steps are the same as shown in the button removal guide. The Joy-Cons are actually pretty easy to work on, as long as you’re careful and stay organized! I hope this helps, let us know how it goes and if you have any more questions.
A répondu à : Volume fluctuates on TCL TVHey Roberto! Your TV and your soundbar both have audio settings that enhance dialogue. I would make sure that they are both set to enhance dialogue, or totally disable audio on one of them to try and isolate the problem. You could also have a faulty cable connecting the two that is shorting somewhere and causing the volume fluctuations. Good luck, I hope this helps!
A répondu à : My Microphone doesnt stay upHey @stekkerbox! Is there a screw that holds the mic in place? If there is, it could be loose. If there aren’t any screws you can see, you may have to take it apart and figure out what is supposed to keep the mic arm tensioned. It looks like some gaming headsets keep their mic arm tension screws just under the ear cushions, so it might not be too hard to access. Good luck, I hope this helps!
A répondu à : What do I need to open up a switch joy con and clean the buttonsHey @andrewifix! I’m sorry to say we don’t have a good guide for getting to the buttons on Joy-Con controllers yet. We do have a couple guides and a teardown that you can probably use to get most of the way there, though! Check these out: Right analog stick replacement Left analog stick replacement Joy-Con teardown If you decide to get in there and do some cleaning, take some photos and make a guide out of it, we’d love to have it!
