Completed, but have a spot on the screen now. I have a feeling that taking this watch apart has killed all the water resistance and I’ll be in the market for a new watch very soon. Everything about this repair feels like a moonshot. Frustrating. it’s just a battery. they should be easily replaceable. Full stop.
Reattaching this is a nightmare. I never found any locking flap. The cable pulled out, but getting it to stay when I put it back together was tough. Not sure how long it will hold while in actual use.
Leave the ring from the previous step partially in and use it as a wrench on the actual nut.
Other than some comments I made above, this description was perfect!
Someone way more delicate than me may be able to remove this tape without ripping it, but I would love to meet that person and verify they are working on a phone that is more than a few days old. the tape on my phone was glued way too much to get it to peel without ripping. Order more tape.
I still don’t know how this was supposed to work, but there is some adhesive along the top. I used the pick to wiggle the top out and then proceed. Another site advised more heat in this area to loosen the adhesive. I didn’t need to.
Agreed. There’s no way I could have done this without a heat gun, a ton of patience, and a really, really thin flat screw driver bit from my iFixit tool pack. I think it was the 1.3.
