You mean the screws? Apart from gluing all together I can’t see other solution.
To repair it you must be able to open the PC cover and access the hinge directly. For new parts I have no idea, look around over eBay or Aliexpress, you should be able to find something.
Hi, yes it will happen again :-| I used mine for a couple of years until it started to lock again and broke the plastic. It was time to buy a new one so I just use this Asus from time to time in a table and open the top and place it against the wall, as the top no longer stays in place. With a little patience I guess I can glue it all again but no time for now and my new portable PC is much faster :-P
I think the issue is mechanical, the hinge will tighten itself little by little and oxidation will do the rest. Bad choice of hinge and material…
I'm glad this guide helped someone :-) Cheers!
Hi Gokulnath,
If I understand, you want to replace the round plastic protection (step 3 in my repair guide). Normally if you take out the back cover you can access it more easily. Then you need to pull it out, in my case I broke some of the plastic tags. Then just press the new one in and it should stay in place.
Excellent guide. I managed to change a broken screen in a couple of hours. Well, it actually took a little longer... the digitizer was broken but the LCD looked ok so I just bought the digitizer (around $14 on ebay) and then separated the LCD from the broken digitizer. It really hard. I ended up with a broken LCD. So I bought the LCD+Digitizer ($46) and that was easy. Its working fine now.
