    • As you can see, this is my own personally device that my daughter actually dropped and cracked the glass. I plan to repair it, once parts are available of course.

I’m in a similar spot. My son dropped his. When do you think parts will be available? Any clue? I’ve spoken with local distributors and Lenovo. I’ve not found a lot of help.

I found 2 EBay sellers in China with the full assembly (screen plus digitizer) for about $80 (free shipping). Both sellers have 2 items left. I ordered mine today. I confirmed the part number through the Lenovo site and it seems to match, CTX636. Good luck. I'll report back once I receive mine. I'm sure they'll sell out fast.

    Hi guys

my dog accidentally grabbed my chrome book and cracked the top right part

display intact but minor ghosting issues and that top corner touch is unresponsive

    ive found a temporary solution

we can disable touchscreen google it and use search + shift + t

this is toggle on or off as per requirement

and use as a mini laptop until we get a screen replacement glass.

My niece stepped on my daughter's Duet Chromebook. Went to a repair store and they said the only thing I could do is just buy a new one. Nope, I am waiting on screen replacements to come available. Meanwhile, she can still use it with a mouse or the pad on the keyboard, but I'd like to get it working with touchscreen again.

    • Replacing a cracked screen requires you to remove the frame on the broken screen and using two way tape to attach it to the new screen.

Be careful if replacing a screen when removing the plastic frame. I attempted to heat up the glass in order to make the adhesive easier to separate from the plastic frame and the glass screen, however, I heated it up a bit too much and it caused the plastic frame to warp. Now it has shrunk on one side and wont fit onto a new screen. Very frustrating as I can not seem to find the replacement part of just the plastic frame.

    excelsior1021 - Réponse

Besides the plastic frame, I also need to remove the display cable from the screen, but have no idea how that could be done... It doesn’t seem to be possible to just pull it from the white connector? Does anyone know how this can be done?

    HeeHoo -

Fixed it! The cable needed to be “released” on the other side of the white connector (eg pull up with small tool or nail). I got a working LCD + touch screen from https://m.nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005002... Thanks!

    HeeHoo - Réponse

How do I remove the plastic frame??

    Sterling Boothe -

I removed the plastic frame with a hair dryer and a spatula or something else that is thin, you remove the flex cable by lifting the white plug on the back of the screen. then you can carefully pull the cable out

Lets hope repalcemt parts come in the frame, not require we move the plastic frame over to the new screen. Most of the parts are modular, including the charging port and buttons.

    • Also on the upside, all the screws are the same size, which makes for easy reassembly. The speakers are also pretty easy replace.

    • on the down side, the battery is adhered in, and some parts, like the WiFi chip are soldered on. However, looking at this from a Tablet perspective, and not a PC, that's to be expected. It does look like it might be replaceable, even if it is soldered.

Thank you my friend for this fine article. I myself own three of these devices I have two children which I bought them for. however on the second week my son who's nine dropped his and cracked the screen as well. I have been searching for replacement parts but unable to find any. Please post if you're ever find where they sell them because I would love to attempt to fix it. I noticed what mine it was a small crack on the screen however the touch sensitivity has gone away, I can still use it with the keyboard however. Right now I use it for myself to play Xbox game pass beta when I'm in my room as it has a very decent screen.

i was able to pull the partial PN off the pic of the back of the screen, i believe what they’ve done is used this screen TV101WUM ( which is available on Ali Express) and used two way tape to the frame that has the clips on it. I’ve ordered one of these screens since it was only about 30 bucks, once it comes in i’ll remove the old one and try and unglue the old screen from the frame, replace the two way tape and re-install.

    g_caetano -

Have just been asked to have a crack (pardon the pun) at replacing one of these screens. Did the part arrive yet Jeff? Anyone had any joy yet with sourcing a decent replacement screen etc.?

g_caetano - How did you get on with yours?

    Paolo M. - Réponse

I ordered it off that AlliExpress site, i think i got it just at the right time. You have to remove the frame off of the old screen and use some 2 way tape to attach it to the new unit. It seems to work fine, touch screen and all. I took some pictures but can’t seem to add them to this site.

    g_caetano -

I picked up 2 of these with cracked screens, so following this thread, as I would love to be using these.

    dteague - Réponse

Part number on mine are TV101WUM-NL6. Wish I could find 2 new ones.

    dteague - Réponse

It looks like the part numbers on Aliexpress are slightly different but appear to be variations of TV101WUM. I’d be fine to order one of these and try to replace it but it seems that the real part that needs to be replaced is the digitizer, not just the LCD panel (or better yet the entire frame with LCD and digitizer already installed).

Has anyone had any luck replacing the actual glass?

    That one guy - Réponse

Does it appear that the digitizer is glued to the LCD or could it be replaced as a separate part.

It appears lcd is glued to the screen. I just destroyed the lcd when trying to separate the screen from the lcd. The glue is much stronger than the glue/ on the frame.

    Derek Hunt - Réponse

Honestly, it appars that the only spare parts one should expect to need is screen (hopefully with the plastic frame so it doesn’t need to be moved), battery and maybe charging port and power/volume buttons.

It would have been really nice if they had applied some conformal coating to guard against liquid damage directly from the factory, too.

I was able to order the screen with the link from AliExpress about 6 weeks ago, finally came in today. You have to remove the frame / clip from the old screen by heating it up with a hair drier to soften the glue up. It came off without breaking so i was able to use some 2 way tape to attach the new screen. Screen works including the touch screen.

Although, it plugged in and seemed to power on just fine but I couldn’t get the touch screen capability to work. However, I wasn’t able to get the original touch screen to work again either, although, that may be because I didn’t have the screen seated all the way back into the device.

I have been desperate to get a replacement screen for my device. I can’t find any on Aliexpress, but I do notice that there are a few listings on eBay recently. Just search keywords like “lenovo duet display” and you should be able to find them. My device has both LCD and touch digitizer broken, so I ordered a complete screen assembly which costs ~$80 with tax included. Will see if it fits when it arrives. There are also sellers selling touch digitizer only. Hope this helps.

Meh. I got my replacement in today from the link above. It was packaged well and it great condition. But, once I connected everything, it didn't work. Can't get the device to power on. Could be an operator error, since I am no huge “techie". Tried connecting the charger, although it was already fully charged when I began the repair. The tiny light near the charging port lit up blue, as usual. But nothing ever happened on the screen. It just stayed black. Took it back a part, put it back together, then tried again. No luck! Just ordered a whole new Duet from Amazon for $189. Oh well, I tried.

Did you ever replace the screen on this device, @jcow ?

Rock Hudson - Réponse

Just repaired my Lenovo Duet using https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10050023...

Points to note:

1. The screen DOES NOT come with the plastic frame. I was lucky that mine was not broken. I used a hair dryer to gently loosen the old adhesive and remove the remnants of the old screen from the frame. I also removed the rubber gasket from around the lens for the front camera.

2. The screen does not come with adhesive - use your own.

3. The ribbon cable needs to be set all the way - the first time I did it, the backlight powered on, but not the screen. The second time, I used the flap on the ribbon cable to push it in tight and voila! it worked!

4. When the screen finally worked, the digitizer didn’t. However, once I rebooted the tablet (long hold on the power button), it worked!

I’m very satisfied - typing this from the repaired tablet!

I don’t have a USI Pen to test. As for brightness - I don’t see a difference. I did compare part numbers for the screen between original and the new ones, and they were identical.

I can confirm a success screen replacement! I purchased from here (https://www.ebay.com/itm/184836481084) (the LCD+Digitizer) and it works perfectly.

Note: For whatever reason, after I replaced it, the charge indicator was solid red and it wouldn’t take a charge. I simply disconnected the power ribbon (yellow box in Step 6) and reconnected it. After that reset, it was back to normal!

Hi. Thanks for the guide.

I used to replace a cracked digitzer (glass)

LCD was fine but touchpoints were no longer functioning.

You can now easily purchase LCD and digitiser from Aliexpress- I used GOOD LCD STORE

Note the digitiser is bonded to LCD- so purchase glass, screen & frame as one. I paid ~£60 inc p&p and tax

Mr Z - Réponse

How would I replace the cracked glass as you have in your case? I have the front off. Step 5 is not clear to how to remove the frame rom the touch screen?

Rob Reed - Réponse

I found this replacement screen on the chromebookparts website. https://www.chromebookparts.com/lenovo-1... It seems to be better than most of the replacements I found on amazon. Most of the replacements on amazon do not have touch support, which is disappointing. The one in the link may be more expensive, but it seems to be a quality product from a good retailer. My sister's chromebook broke. Too much pressure was applied to the screen and now the chromebook goes crazy even though nobody is touching it. Hopefully, this screen works or I can find a digitizer for it.

Mark Wiens - Réponse

You're most likely finding glass only. Unless you've got the proper equipment to separate glass from an LCD (sealed with OCA) I'd get the full assembly. Also see if you can find it "in frame" then it's a simple snap back into place instead of having to seperate the plastic frame from a potentially shattered glass.

Jeff Caauwe -

For removing the battery, do you only have to remove the screen first, how easy is it to do that? My screen is fine but I want to replace the battery since it's starting to die within three or so hours.

D Dawg - Réponse

Yes you do have to removed the screen first, however it's held in with clips and pretty easy to remove. The battery however is held in with adhesive, but they are pull tabs, which is a plus!

Jeff Caauwe -

Did it work? Was this the right part? https://www.aliexpress.us/item/325680210... You can click the second box under "color" and get one "with frame." Does this include the screen and digitizer?
