GUIDES, PARTS, AND TOOLS

Motorola

Motorola has prioritized repairability for a long time, so we’re proud they chose us as their repair partner. In 2018, Motorola became the first major smartphone manufacturer to offer official replacement parts direct to customers, available around the world through our store.

It’s proof that official and DIY repair can thrive together. Motorola customers can either send their device directly to Motorola for repair or fix it at home with the highest quality parts and tools, plus a free step-by-step guide, all included in our Fix Kits.

Customers rave about their experience fixing their own Motos. 70% of Fix Kit customers said the experience makes them more likely to buy a Motorola phone in the future. They also feel confident knowing that iFixit tools and OEM parts come backed by the manufacturer.

GUIDES AND CUSTOM SOLUTIONS

Patagonia

Patagonia sets the bar high when it comes to making clothes that last. They don’t just repair and resell their own used clothes through Worn Wear—they also partner with iFixit to make top-notch care and repair information available through the Patagonia Repair Hub.

This partnership highlights our ability to craft a custom solution to fit any need. We worked with Patagonia’s materials experts to create a detailed Garment Care Guide with instructions for laundering rain jackets, reapplying waterproofing, removing stains, and caring for a huge range of fabrics.

Patagonia also wanted to make their internal repair documentation available to anyone. We were happy to help. From clothing and gear repairs to all-purpose sewing skills, Patagonia and iFixit teamed up to support all kinds of repairs—and show customers that Patagonia is serious about their mission to “protect our home planet.”

“Repair should be accessible, open, and everywhere,” says Clara Redwood, Global Repair Experience Manager at Patagonia. “That’s why our partnership with iFixit is so important. They help us spread repair knowledge far and wide and encourage people to try DIY fixes.”

Google

iFixit is Google’s go-to choice for spare parts distribution and repairability consulting. We worked side-by-side to establish an entire DIY repair ecosystem including genuine parts, comprehensive guides, and complete Fix Kits. This program offers localized global coverage and has received high praise from customers and the tech press. All of Google’s self-repair ecosystem is neatly available in their custom Repair Hub.

In a world where most consumers think they should be able to fix their stuff, Google has chosen to lead instead of being dragged along.

“From our industry-first “Repair Mode” to updated manuals and parts distribution, we’re making it easier than ever for both DIYers and professionals to repair Pixel phones,” says Prem Pandian, Global Head of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships at Google.

Google promises products that last. We help them deliver.

Repair Is Good Business

Repair Makes Cents

Making products repairable unlocks new profit streams: high-margin service and parts sales (about 25 % EBIT vs. 10 % from new goods), take‑back and refurbishment programs, modular upgrades, and insights from real-world use to optimize future offerings.

Repair Builds Brand Loyalty

Repair ecosystems help brands become iconic by delivering high‑quality products, swift support, transparency, personalization, and ethical responsibility—building deep trust. That trust beats price wars and slows planned obsolescence, driving customer loyalty, retention, and long‑term brand value.

Repair Is Sustainable

Enabling and supporting repair is one concrete way companies can reduce their environmental impacts without hurting their bottom lines. Waste, especially e-waste, is hurting our planet, and repair is the best way to fight it—even better than recycling.

Repair Quick Start Guide

The Six Things That Make or Break Repairability

The journey to enabling repair starts with three simple steps: Make repair instructions easily accessible, develop a spare parts supply chain, and ensure products can be easily disassembled and reassembled. But unrepairable design, unsupported software, and paired parts can thwart even the best repair efforts.

Designing a Repair Ecosystem

A repair ecosystem includes everything needed for a user to complete a repair, whether that’s at a service center, through mail-in service, or through a DIY option. At minimum, that means guides, parts, and tools must be available. It can be challenging to make this from scratch, but you might be further along than you think!

Why DIY Repair Matters

Many manufacturers already have programs that support mail-in or service center repair. But that’s not always best for consumers. DIY repair creates accessibility, loyalty, and profit, all while being the best bet to ensure Right to Repair compliance.
