unable to burn cds and dvds.

Hi guys, i sent my laptop off to get the my nividia chip replaced, and when it got returned i tried to burn a data dvd using itunes i get this error message 'the attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.' I have also tried to burn dvds using toast titanium and other dvd burning software and keeping getting all sorts of error messages, any help or tips would be much appreciated lads hope i provided enough info thanks

I would think some kind of problem was introduced into the drive during reassembly after the video chip was replaced. Who did the work? It may well be they owe you a further repair. If they are unwilling to do so I would remove the drive and check for problems with the cable or pins on the drive itself. If still no joy you may have to replace the drive or use an external for burning and just use the internal for reading. Ralph

Cheers bud, it was stream solutions in Cork Ireland that repaired my mac last, i shall get in contact with them and see what they say thanks ralph
