How do you remove a threaded screw head?

The instructions for the battery replacement clearly said I had to be careful not to the thread the screw head, but this didn't help. A little corrosion around the screw hole appears to have cemented it down. Does anyone have any tips for getting the tiny tiny tiny screws out when the Philips head screw driver can no longer do the job. Thanks.

Suggestions:

1. Use a tiny tiny tiny drop of WD40 or similar and let it soak.

2. Sharpen the smallest phillips driver that you have and after letting the screw soak for quite a while use the sharpened phillips with quite a lot of downward pressure and see if you can 'worry' the fastener into loosening.

Good Luck,

Mike

Suggestion #2:

Drill the tiny tiny tiny screw head away with the same diameter drill bit. Do not drill any farther than the head thickness. Continue to take apart the device. You will be able to remove the component and then use needle nose pliers to unscrew the troubled screw. Lastly, you get to find a replacement screw.

Suggestion #2 worked a charm.
