Very poor Wifi Range (advanced)

Hi, need some help. I installed a new screen on my iphone 4 and since re-assembling Ive got a real bad range on my Wifi, 2 bars when im stood next to the router and that rapidly drops when I move away.

Read some guides and ordered a new shield and also a new wifi antenna, replaced both parts and its exactly the same. Screws are all in the correct place and the small metal bracket is in place on the shield. Any ideas on the problem ?

Thanks

I had this problem too and I figured this out and fixed my wifi signal...take a look at the speaker of the iPhone. You will noticed a bunch of little hooks located on the north side of the speaker. Make sure that those little hooks go under the frame(that's the metal under where the battery is seated, then screw the speaker down and make sure no hooks lift. Also take a look at the wifi antenna, there is a piece where an abnormally long screw goes, make sure there is a metal clip there! If you don't see that piece than you lost it while you we're fixing the iPhone. That metal piece is required for good signal.

Hi, thanks for the advice. The small metal clip near the long screw is definatly there, I also bought a new one just in case so I can rule that one out. I've tried taking the speaker part out and re-adjusting it made no difference. Only other thing I can think of is the screws. I purchased it damaged to refurb but their was a few screws missing, I bought a spair set of screws and followed the guide to put them back in the correct places but im thinking maybe one might not be right...apart from the abnormally long screw at the top, is there any other screws that make a huge difference to the wifi signal ?? I could try swapping a few if there is. Thanks

As far as I know the only screw that really mattered was the long screw because that screw has a dual mission. One in being a mount and 2, it works as a mount. I have also read that replacing the signal antenna also helps fix wifi issues. U may want to try and swap the signal antenna with a working one and see if there is a difference.

Omg I meant dual mission as it works as a mount and also it works as a ground for the wifi antenna.***

Double checked everything now. Cleaned all the metal parts and its still the same. Im guessing something must be up with the actual Wifi Chip, if I get another iphone in I'll swap Motherboards over to test and post the result. Thanks for your help.
