I need help trying to restore 3rd generation iPod
my iPod is in recovery mode so tried restoring it but it says software update could not be contacted idk what to do

You have to turn off your iPod then turn it back on while holding the home button you should get an iTunes logo with the charging cable on your screen. Next plug it in to your computer. Next iTunes should automatically detect that your iPod is in recovery mode. It will next ask you to back-up your device. Back-up your device. Next press the recover button if the button doesn't say anything try repluging it back in after doing the process over again then press store then let it go thats it.
