Why does a newly replaced digitizer loses ability to recognize touch?

Hello, I replaced the digitizer to a second iteration of the iPad 2 for a client, and after awhile it can loses the ability to pick up any touches. When I received it and opened it up and I went ahead to put in some extra screws to hold down the LCD screen. I figured that would help keep in place the ribbon cable to the digitizer, but no dice. I had him try a hard reset by holding the lock and home buttons simultaneously, but I get the same result. I'm going to get him to do a system restore through iTunes, but at this by point, I am running out of options. I am starting to think that it could be a faulty Logic Board. Any ideas would be more than welcomed.

Hi there a restore won't do anything you either haven't closed down the latch on the digatizer or havent it plugged all the way in or you have creased the cable between the frame and glass which is very common mistake on the ipad 2 or it's a faulty screen..

Chances of it being the logic board are slim ..

I would try a new screen first if the suggestions above don't work

Thank you for your swift response! I double checked before I returned the iPad to him. I closed the latch and slid the ribbon cable all the way in. I also made sure the cable wasn't between the frame and the glass. I got the screen from iFixit, which I have never had any issues with before. The thing is when there is weight put on it for a bit, it starts to recognize the touches. Any thoughts on that?

If a bit of weight fixes it then it's most likely a faulty display I could be wrong tho..

Maybe some1 else has a explanation

This is going to be a digitizer flex problem. Most likely case--you've allowed the digitizer flex to fold slightly between the digitizer and the LCD, it *seems* like it was designed to fold that way. The weight of the digitizer on the flex over time has made a crease which destroys function.

On your next replacement, make sure that 100% of the digitizer cable slides through the space between the LCD and the frame--it will fit!

Thank you for your response as well! Like I mentioned to con, it's not between the digitizer and LCD, since I know that is not the correct position for it. There's actually a little crevice where it is currently tucked in, under the frame.

it's a flex problem. no other possibility.
