New lcd only works with digitizer unplugged?

Hi guys, i am fairly experienced in mobile phone repairs but am having an issue with a replacement screen on a 5C. Customer had cracked glass on old screen but was otherwise working fine, LCD and digi both fine. I fitted a new LCD/digi when i powered it up i got back lights but no LCD. Presumed it was a faulty part so picked up another. Exactly the same issue. Concerned id damaged logic board i refitted original cracked screen. All fine. Puzzled i played around and found that both of the replacement LCDs work fine if i leave the digi flex unplugged. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting battery and a soft reset with no joy. Have i just been unlucky and got 2 faulty screens, can a faulty digi prevent LCD from working?

Thanks in advance

Ollie

I would try a good known working 5c screen not the cracked one..

I'm guessing the screens are faulty no other explanation for it

I just had this same exact problem and I too have been working on phones for some time now. When I finally realized that the LCD worked without the digitizer then I took a close look at the digitizer connection and sure enough it was busted. The top of the connector on the motherboard looked like it was pressed down a little too hard and the metal pins at the top looked partially out of place. So that could be the same issue you are having. I'm going to try and solder the connector back together and see how that goes.

Ok so soldering didn't do anything but the next day I plugged it all back in and placed some pressure on the digitizer connection and it booted up fine. I bumped the phone a couple times to make sure that it wouldn't come loose and haven't had a problem since. The image attached is the connector and notice how the top of it is a little crooked.
