I was thinking about moving my Mid 2010 internals into a later body since I removed the Optical drive for aesthetic reasons. Are all the mounting positions the same?

Generally you can't cross model years.. screw holes and other internals won't line up or fit.
Look at the catalog for your specific parts (there are three starting points for a reason).
