Any hints for faster charging?

Are there any hints for faster charging (for example using the iPad power supply) in the iPhone 4 ?

As the battery has a higher capacity, this would be even more useful.

What is the charging ciruit rated at?

(fortunately the iPad proved that the connector is good for at least 2A).

Many LiPoly cells are now rated for very high charging currents without bad effects on battery life.

As a USB device, 5W charging (using the provided wall adapter, or any Mac) is guaranteed to work. By USB specification, any higher than 1A is a violation of the standard (the iPad is not a USB device).

With this said, the charge controller may accept >1A, but not actually use it. The chance of causing damage is very low. Even 100A would theoretically be safe (though, the wires would get hot). It's not a limitation of the cells, but of the charge controller, in order to prevent overcharging.

100A could be theoretical safe for the battery. The standard wires wouldn't only get hot, they would catch fire...

Thank you very much for your answer.

So you probably tested it with an iPad charger and checked the maximum current?
