Hi Markus, thank you for responding. I have the original iPod Classic purchased in Dec 2006. It was working great, until I plugged it into my new netbook. I tried to reset it. Didn't work. Like a fool I did not back up my music, and I mistakenly sent my Itunes library somewhere on my computer, can't find it. Yes I am IT illiterate.

Hi David, since I am an insomniac, I had my Itunes library opened on my laptop and a window popped up, wanting me to make it a default something, and I hit the wrong button and it is somewhere on my computer. I found the files but it is all gibberish when I open it. I don't have a clue on how to put it back. I have searched the Itunes store to see if there is a contact so I can ask if I may download my songs since most are so recently added. I see a faint apple image on my iPod and that is it, I also did let the battery drain and then recharged it. Also, your opinion on Acers netbook would be helpful. IT DOESN'T GET HOT. SO FAR THE iPod ISSUE IS THE ONLY PROB. Thanks for your answer.

David I only did a reset on my iPod, not my ITUNES LIBRARY. Thanks for any help.

Ah yes, I forget that some people actually have their entire iTunes library on their computers. As I recall, mp3s from iTunes are, as you say, gibberish. That is to say, folder names will be along the lines of "HFKD7743GDJ." I believe there is some sort of function that adds all music files on your computer to your iTunes library. I can't quite remember how to get to it, though.

Thanks David. If anyone knows how to restore my itunes library back to ITUNES I would appreciate that too.

I'm pretty sure performing a factory reset on your iPod deletes all the music, rather than "sending it somewhere" as you have stated. Did you click the Restore button in iTunes when you connected your iPod? If so, that button restores your iPod to original settings, which includes wiping all of your music/movies/pictures/etc.

I think you should not blame windows 7 for that - it's only an operating system - wo it can not kill the iPod only because it's mean ;-)

what happend exactly ?

does the iPod react in any way ?

what iPod do you have ?
