Is this Moto X saveable?

After about 3 months of ownership, the digitiser on my Moto X (XT1058) began to fail. At first it was just a bar on the screen that was unresponsive but then the digitizer failed completely. Upon sending it for repair, my service provider said that the phone had water damage and was unrepairable and not under warranty.

When I disassembled the phone, I did find some corrosion in one spot on the phone. My question is whether this phone is a write-off or is there a hope of repairing it. Full pics of the pcb can be found here

Options

Is that the digitizer connector near where the corrosion is shown in your picture? I have had luck with cleaning off the corrosion using a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol. It's worth a shot otherwise you'll have to try to find a replacement main board.

You'd have to try to find one on eBay.

Weirdly, the corrosion was around connector for the rear-facing camera. It did clean up nicely with some 99% isopropyl alcohol but that made no difference to the digitizer. Am at a loss to work out how to diagnose the problem now. Phone still boots up fine but digitizer still dead. I'd happily buy a new digitizer/screen if there was some way of determining that that would solve the problem.

It is unusual for a digitizer to fail without any physical damage and the liquid damage to the board leads me to believe it is most likely a main board problem. On the other hand a digitizer is only $10 on eBay and might be worth a try first.
