Why did it start glitching?

My phone was in my back pocket and I went to the restroom and when I pulled down my pants and it fell in the toilet. But I hurried up and took it out and took out the battery and stuff and then put it in some rice for like some hours. But it was working. But like a week later it start glitching and I just powered it off. But I still get messages and stuff and it charges the screen just don't work. Like I can't see nun but I can text
