MacBook Air chimes and screen powers on but shows all black
Hi,
I erased the corrupted Mavericks installation on a Macbook Air's SSD in hopes of installing Yosemite from a bootable thumbdrive. Now when I restart the computer it chimes (it previously had not) and the screen turns on but instead of the normal white apple screen the display is totally black. because of the dark screen I cannot tell if holding the option key to boot from the thumbdrive is even working and restarting normally without the thumbdrive plugged in produces the same results.
I have tried resetting the SMC and the PRAM and neither seem to do anything, though the screen does flash white for a split second when resetting the PRAM. No matter what startup key combo I try the screen is always powered on but totally black after it chimes.
If there is no real obvious solution to this problem would replacing the SSD and/or Logic Board be a potential fix?
Thanks
