Why is my console not turning on?

My Wii doesn't turn on. It was working just fine a couple days ago, but now the console itself won't turn on. The controller works just fine. The lights will flash when I press a button on the controller, but if I press the power button, the console just won't turn on

Is it because my console is too old? Did Nintendo shut my console down permanently? I got this Wii the first week it came out.
