When my ipod shuffle is plugged into the dock to charge, I get 4 yellow blinks, then nothing. It won't charge. Is there anyway to salvage my shuffle? Maybe replace a battery or something? Will my music stay on the device, or will it wipe clean when possibly replacing the battery?

I had the same thing happen to me about a month ago. I tried everything, new charger, different outlets, different charging methods (computer vs wall) with no luck. I had to format it and then it would charge... lost all my music, but at least it still works.

First, eject it from itunes and your computer, but leave it plugged in. If this works, make sure to always eject it before charging.
Replacing the battery will not wipe the music from the iPod.
To avoid losing your music, back up the iPod's hidden iPod_Control folder, which contains the Music folder (you may have to enable disk use from iTunes first to access it). If you format the iPod, you can then restore its iPod_Control directory, or import the songs from the Music folder inside the backup.
