Why is my printer stuck on the screen with the HP logo?

The printer is stuck on the HP logo and the blue buffering bar. It isn't getting past it and I'm so disappointed because I need to use it for scanning. It's a great scanner! Please help me in resetting the printer hardware or whatever it needs!!

I'm on windows 10 by the way and have installed using the updated drivers on the hp website

our HP OFFICE Jet 5230 when turning power on the bar

on the screen scans across ...we have 2 dots out of the 7 show up black and that's it. Everything freezes.. tried turning off at the wall unplugging blah blah ... nothing ... any help out there please?

I have the very same problems on my HP Deskjet 5230. I have a black and white screen, but same problem . So if someone has the answer. I would be very appreciated to get my printer running again.

I spent yesterday updating laptop (Windows 10) & Printer Firmware and updates. With no joy. Ended up giving up. As it was late. I have just put the power lead back in the printer after leaving it unplugged all night. To my surprise, it is now working. I’m at a loss. Obviously technology and me didn’t work yesterday, but we are friends again today lol.

Your printer needs a firmware update. You can download it directly from HP website.

how do you update the firmware if the printer will not completely power on??

I updated the firmware on my laptop (Windows 10). Then shut down the laptop, and left the printer unplugged all night. I have just plugged the printer back in and now everything is working as normal. So it needed to to a restart. I had done the same numerous times yesterday unplugging the printer for times from 1 minute to 30 minutes with no joy. Left if unplugged overnight and mine has worked. Not sure if it will do the same for you, but it has got to be worth a try.

I talked to HP Support today. I probably spent on hour with them without results. In the end they told me that it was a hardware issue and that I would need to buy a new printer. The printer is only 2.5 years old.
