Dyson DC34 Handheld battery charge only lasts a few minutes. Can I reset the battery memory? Are there any other options to increase the memory capacity of the battery so I can keep using the $199.00 device?

That is a solution for an additional $30.00. I was hoping to find a way to erase built up memory in a battery. Anyone know how I can do that?
How old is it?
We purchased a new battery and it's memory is shorter than the battery it was to replace.
