Battery power disconnect without Removing from case?

I purchased the tools from IFixit to remove the battery. However, my issue is a soft brick/reboot on that phone, not the battery itself.

On other phones, the last ditch action to repair a bricked phone is to remove the battery and let the residual power drain out before replacing and attempting to unbrick it. I am having a lot of difficulty removing the battery with the tools, and don't want to crack the case doing it. The case plastic is already visibly weakened from the effort. That is some strong glue.

Will just disconnecting the battery connection to the motherboard disconnect the power from the battery, or is there something else underneath the battery that contacts it to feed power to the motherboard? I cannot find a picture of this phone with the battery fully removed to know for sure.

I don't want to force removing the battery and destroying the case, as well as voiding the warranty if it is not neccesary to do what I need to do.
