hi, how did you open it?? i need to open it too lol

Why is this marked solved. It is not solved. The guy is trying to find out what kind of screw it is so he can take it out himself. The question wasn't, How can I destroy this screw and ruin my warranty while trying to get inside of this controller. So did Scuf have this screw invented specifically for them? Why does no one seem to know what kind of screw that is?

par

thanks for the reply!

Yeah scuf invented the screw currently you cant buy the driver on the market, still looking but cant get it...

par

Guys I see this is an old thread and without arguing bit type there's a very simple answer, just take a Dremel or something similar and cut out a slot to make it a flat head screw. I ended up fixing my paddle which is why I came here with alcohol and spray air, but if needed this was how I was going to remove the mystery security screw. I have a good sized set of security bits and apparently this ones pretty uncommon.

par

We are looking for an option for people who don't want to accidentally destroying their product by melting or sawing their product.

I mean if it comes to it I will probably do that cause &&^& the $89 deductible but I want to find a screw for it first.

Gosh, this was a pain to find! So here it is what looks like the appropriate bit…

Part documentation

https://uk.c.misumi-ec.com/book/SAI1_SEA...

Part

https://uk.misumi-ec.com/vona2/detail/22...

I’m not absolutely certain on the required size of the 2 available sizes for the bit. My guess is part number SF3B.

Corresponding screw

It looks like you can source the part in single units but it’s quite a pricey exercise as its about EUR 40 shipped, at east to where I live.

Holy $@$* you did it...

Now how do we make this the correct answer?

par

wow, 35 pound a bit.

par

How did you find that man?

par

Has anyone bought this and confirmed its the SF3B?

par

Nice find, from looking at your results, it seems the screw is a

System 5 SF010206

System 5 M2

dk of 4.5

Nominal of Thread (M) 2

Length L (mm) 6

Pitch (mm) 4.5

so the bit that will remove it is a SF2B bit and from what I can find it cost $37.91.

Here's a repair video on it, but the guy modified the screw and it does focus well enough to see what type it is. Post a picture of it would help us to find out what it is:

My research says it's an E5 torx like this:

I added the pictures i took and a small video, thanks for the reply!

par

Yep, looks like a E5 Torx

par

Ill order one and see what happens :)

It does look a bit big for the hole tho? wouldnt you agree?

Again thanks for the reply.

par

Those look like star and game bits.

par

It does look right for the game bit part except it only has 5 bits on the screw instead of 6 like the gamebit driver

Based on this video, it appears the fixer is using a Spanner bit. Unsure of the size.

I found a company that will sell you the bit along with the screws, supposedly you only need to purchase a single screw. The company is a Japanese company called Saima, the bit is one of their "System 5" bits. There are two sizes, and the part numbers are SF2B and SF3B. I emailed "info@saima.co.jp" to place my order and spoke with a man named Yoshinori Kase who helped me out. Unfortunately I had reached out to them with my business email address, and when they found out I was a firearms dealer, they then refused the sale. However, this shouldn't be an issue for the rest of you. Also, those claiming that 6 lobe bits and any other product they found is correct are either mistaken or lying.

I assure all of you that this is the definitive answer to this question at the time of this post. According to Yoshi, they will sell you a single screw and bit together, but not the bit alone. I have no idea what shipping would cost as I never got that far before they found out I was a firearms dealer.

par

I have ordered the SF2B bit from Misumi. It was pretty painless outside of the cost. I’m waiting for it to arrive.

par

@livefast9986 The reason I attempted to order directly from Saima (the manufacturer) instead of going through Misumi is because they don't even list the United States as an option when registering an account and, as far as I can tell, you must create an account to even add items to the cart or request a quote. I assume that you either live outside of the US or contacted them via email?

par

Nope. I literally just went to the website, made an account, and ordered it through their online website. I live in the US. It took less than 3 minutes for the order.

par

My SF2B bit came in and it doesn’t fit. It’s either the wrong size or the shaft is too big to fit over the screw and is hitting the sidewalls.

Anyone have advice?
