Michael, Check the Kenwood trouble shooting links below for radio not turning on. 2nd link talks about the protect mode and how to diagnose why it may be on. Good luck.

I have a Kenwood kdc-bt31 that was reading an Error code "check device" and was stuck on Pandora. Took a shot at your link to Kenwood KDC-BT362UT that it would help. Inserted CD and then removed it and happy to say my stereo works again. Thanks
