Not sure what motor and Encoder MiPosaur uses

Hey guys, has anyone taken apart and reaplace/repair the motors (and if possible, the encoder) on the WowWee MiPosaur toy? I'm doing this because I notice the wheel (on the left) tends to get stuck and sound really squeaky.

I already have taken apart the toy, but I can't seem to find the motor (and encoder if possible) that it uses

Hi, I had a similar problem with a MiPosaur and managed to fix it, at least temporarily. I took the white “gearbox” in your picture apart and saw a gear had migrated on the motor shaft. I pushed it back into position and the robot works much better.

Had same issue as above. Horrible noise and would not drive one wheel properly. Small cog in motor shaft had moved. After pushing it back into place it works well.

This part can be knocked loose if it runs into, say, a wall, especially multiple times.

If the black piece attached to the motor axle is loose, this could be a cause for the problem, as I had this problem, but upon comparing gearboxes with an undamaged part, that is something I noticed.

I created a guide (WowWee MiPosaur Locomotive Problem Repair Guide). You can also find the guide under "WowWee Miposaur".
