Touch ID not working after screen replacement

Ok so I replaced the screen on an iPhone 6. The heat shield that has the flex cable attached a slice in the ribbon, and I replaced that with a spare I had. Does that have to be original too even though I have the original home button for the Touch ID to work?

I'm not super sure what raeysom was saying. Basically you need a quality home button cable. eBay and Amazon are iffy. I've bought some from there and they work. Some I bought won't work. Pretty sure iFixit has one

If on the outside possibility it doesn't work. IFixit is AMAZING with their warranty

said the same thing you did, just using different words, sometimes the touch id extension cables (or link cables) are not very good quality and will not function correctly, they will allow touch ID to initialize but will not operate total touch id functionality and touch id will freeze if you try to read fingerprints. seen this a fair few times.

Yeah, great. Except you said in a super unclear way, and I posted a link to a working known good part. I realize it's frustrating when someone just repeats what you just said, but clear up your answers some. Also, make it so we can tag you in your profile. Like this @refectio you're awesome! Now he's gonna see that in his notifications. That's how we communicate with eachother in this sea of answers

No it does not need to be the original touch ID extension ribbon although that said some 3rd party ones are not very good quality, the phone will recognise the Touch ID button and activate Touch ID functionality but fail to actually read fingerprints.

Hope this helps

@rayeasom I ordered a replacement non original touch ID extension cable on eBay. The home button and touch ID is original and looks intact as I was cautious when transferring it over but had to buy a replacement extension cable on eBay. After installing the replacement extension cable + lcd shield it came with the home button works and there are no 'failed to activate touch ID' issues so it looks like the button has been registered on the phone but it does not read fingerprints on the lockscreen and no fingerprint will form when trying to add a fingerprint. Do you think that I may have this issue with a low quality 3rd party extension cable? I ordered a genuine one on eBay now in hopes that will sort my issue. What's your opinion on this?

that long home flex is ok to be replaced, if you have original home button with home flex which sensor working before, after you replaced screen and long home flex, the touch id should be work.
