icemaker blew smokey looking stuff out when I started it back making i

I haven't let it make ice in about a month because I didn't need the ice. I turned it back on tonight and it blew smokey stuf at me and smelled bad. Do you thinkI burned the motor up on the ice maker. I stopped it from making ice again until I can get someone to look at it.
