Hi!

Try some of the following stuff and let me know how it goes and if you need further advice. These are separate ideas, they don't need to be followed in a specific order.

  • Try using recovery mode. Press R+L+A+(D-PAD)-UP while booting. Then update.
  • Remove the battery while the system is on, make sure there is no SD card inserted.
  • Power it up, press and hold the power button until it dies, the SD card can be inserted for this. Also make sure that both Wi-Fi and 3D are off.

How about a reference to those people that had similar issues? That statement shouldn't be made and left hanging if it is out of context.

par

The problem is, they never accepted my answers, so I'm not sure if the stuff I proposed worked.

par

Yeah I tried doing the R+L+A+UP hundreds of times, but I'll try doing the other advice you requested.

par

Yeah I tried every thing, its still the same black screen and blue light.

par

What happens if you delete everything from the SD card or if you insert a card formatted as FAT32?

Not sure if you are still having issues, but from what you said with the blue light fading out it sounds like an exploit was used on it called arm9loaderhax, in which case the system will refuse to boot without that file on the root of the sd card.

https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/...

If you download this and put the included arm9loaderhax.bin file on the root of the sd card, and then after inserting the sd card back into the 3ds try to boot it it should work

For me this fixed it:

-hold power for 10s until the 3ds turns off

-remove game cartridge (in my case the ace3ds+)

-turn the sound up and press power. If home menu music starts playing and the screen is still black, just close the 3ds and open it back up

If you are still having problems, try in removing the board from system. Attach the board to the battery via the bottom case and try to turn it back on. If the blue flashes and turns off, then you know the board is working and the issue may be one of the ribbon cables or the LCD. If the blue light stays on, then issue with the board

i really dont know what to do. same thing is happening with my 3ds. blue appears and fades. This was an old 3ds. Any suggestions on what to do?

Update (10/10/2019)

I have a fix. You need to put the boot.firm on the root of your SD card. This should most likely fix the problem. You can download the boot.firm somewhere off the internet.

I’ve said this a lot. Boot.firm. Place on Root Of SD.

par

for anyone looking for this file, search "luma3ds github", it's in the luma zip

par

how do you open up the home menu as usual after this it brings me to the luma 3ds menu when i boot after putting the boot.firm on the root of the sd card

par

@atsudragneel that's only on first boot, just hit start to save and reboot

I'v had the same problem.

I was still getting errors by luma after complete installation.

SO i figured uninstall CFW cause it might causing any problems.

I was on ver. 11.6.0 now i was able to access settings (cause most of the time i get freezes)

game card isnt even working properly also i get error, while when cfw was on it it worked.

I did also a complete system format.

Somehow im stuck on 11.6.0 and my 3ds will not boot automatic configuration screen. (just light up black screens) Sometimes im able to boot trough save recovery mode. last time i did this i was unable to update.. now i'v readen something about primary and secondary dns.. i will try this.. anybody else formiliar with this or can help?

Thanks!

For me it hangs on a black screen with no backlighting whatsoever, and the blue light appears for a brief 16-17 seconds and then it shuts off. I installed Luma and the tutorial i was following didn't do a good job at explaining the last steps, i'm afraid that my 3dsxl might be bricked for good but if you can help me that would be very much appreciated.

I recommend you ask a new question if this hasn't helped. https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/Ask be sure to include: did anything happen (spills, drops, repairs etc.) leading up to the issue? what you tried, and what the issue is. good luck!

After following advice of resetting home screen settings (down/B/L/R on boot), my ds is now just stuck on the 'Opening homescreen' loading bar, and has been for the last hour.

Time to bin it? Getting real fed up with these 'fixes'

Do you have CFW? If you do, use GodMode9 to perform a CTRTransfer, should fix it. Just don’t update it ;)

Try using GodMode9 and performing a CTRTransfer. Worked for me.

Well See, everything in my SD card is erased.

par

That s probably the thing thats causing it to not work

par

Try using godmode9 for a CTRTransfer.

If this doesn't work, Unfortunately you may just have bricked your 3ds.

These things can happen, even if the custom firmware is installed by a professional. Same thing happened to my brother and his was bricked. He just lost everything on there eventually and had to buy a new one.

Same Problem here and I’m running on the old model so I guess my one is bricked but what I tried was to use the reboot and if that doesn’t work try giving it to a person that knows how to program circuit boards.

Get the boot.firm. it should fix.

Programming the circuit boards isn’t the problem — It’s either the SD CARD, or you 3DS Internal Memory(System Memory.)

Also, you 3DS has CFW…

One of the problems occurring with CFW, could be if you installed the dsiware-hack “Haaaaaaxxxxx”. My 3DS bricked(3 of them) before my 4th worked, so…

Oh, right: Have you been using R4, or TWLOADER/TWILIGHT-MENU? That could be the problem. My 3DS wouldn’t boot the whole time they were on there, so I used GODMODE9(or a different program) to programmatically delete them. After that, I practically let my 3DS DIE(Battery-Drain), and then re-charged it. After it was at 100%, I pressed the POWER BUTTON, and it booted up just fine.

Glad I could help,

Momoro

@European Trashbag What tutorial did you follow? The most trustworthy one is 3ds.hacks.guide --Did you install GodMode9? Do you have a backup of the NAND? If you do, hold START right after pressing the power button until GodMode9 loads. Then, you should begin the process of restoring the NAND, which should also be at 3ds.hacks.guide --Actually, better yet, do you just have GodMode9 installed? If so, then load into it and follow the tutorial at 3ds.hacks.guide for uninstalling CFW. Hope I helped you :)

par

@momoro I was with you right up until the uninstall CFW part. DO NOT DO THAT while the console is in an unbootable state; it will likely lead to a permabrick. There's almost never any reason to uninstall CFW anyway, but it should ABSOLUTELY NOT be done if the 3ds is behaving weirdly in any way

The other cause of blue light is a non-functional top lcd, non functional bottom lcd, or camera ribbon. Try disconnecting the lcd ribbon and see if the system boots up. If the motheboard can stay power on without any ribbon connected, then there is an issue motherboard (hardware) or with software preventing to boot properly.

Hey guys, just came by with another solution that worked on my case :)

My 3DS XL (old model) has CFW and got the black screens and blue lights kept on.

Solution:

. Remove the batery and insert again;

. Power on holding only the L button;

Turned on like a charm

Alright I just had this problem with my 3ds new xl, I've been letting it sit after playing around with it for a bit seeing what I could do, noticed it took unusually long to hard off when i held the power button. Today I turned it on and noticed the red blinking light, it to was blinking slowly.

So after looking threw these I chose the simplest one, and huh. I just left it on for like 5-10 minutes while having a smoke.

I seem to have caused some sorta error in the bootup that just caused it to boot really slowly, I imagine an older model woulda been even longer. It seems to have worked through whatever error that was filling the cpu now that its got to the homescreen.

I also know it happened right after it was charging and we flicked a bunch of breakers on and off a few times, we were checking wiring. Oh and my sd is 256 gigs I could see that causing the occasional problem on boot.

Alot of these other solutions like taking out your battery, performing different kinds of resets for clearing you're caches. I'm sure taking out my battery or letting the battery run dry today woulda fixed it too.
