Black display. 7 blinks of power red light.

Panasonic plasma Television VIERA TC-P50G10

During operation, the screen went black and the power light blinks 7 times. I tried unplugging everything, holding the power button for 60 seconds and replugging in power cord and holding for 20 seconds. I also tried holding power button and the volume button at the same time. I took the back off and do not see anything obvious like a leaking capacitor. Looked over the SC board especially well. Checked for some open circuits where I could on the SC board. No luck. Any advice would be appreciated.

@doninbush the 7-blink error code is for the SC floating voltage area and the boards to check are the SU SD and SC boards. You can check by unplugging the SU board and see if you still get 7 blinks. If so, disconnect the SD board and check for the 7 blinks. If so, disconnect the SC board and see if you now get 6 blinks or any other change. That would be indicative of a bad SC board.

To absolutely test it place a jumper at SC50 on the SC board and the buffers (SU SD)disconnected. If it then powers up with the LED still flashing your SC board has failed. Make sure you do not keep it powered on with the jumper for longer than 30 sec.

It might also help if you post some images of your boards with your question. It would allow us to see what you see. Use this guide Ajout d'images à une question existante for that.

I've got the same problem with my Panasonic TC-P50GT30 showing a 7-blink error code. I disconnected the SU board and still see 7-blinks. Then I disconnected the SD board and again got 7-blinks. Next, I disconnected the SC board and now I've got an 8-blink error code. Any hint on what might be the defective part?

@robertooyarzun the cause for 7 blinks are usually:

Driver SOS2

(SU/SD Connector DET)

(SU/SD Scan and Logic IC)

Most likely is an SU/SD fault but could also possibly be a loose board connector, or a mis-seated connector leading to the panel. Check those. The next thing I would do is to isolate SU and SD boards by disconnecting the 3 white connectors from the SC to the SD/SU. Remove the 4 ground screws at the buffer boards. Then place jumper across SC50. If you still get the 7 blink error code you are having a bad SC board.

How dangerous is it to remove the back panel?

Did I remember correctly that television store a lot of charge in their capacitors that could bite if not discharged properly? Or was that microwaves?

par

@danielivanov it's not. Make sure you unplug it and do not touch the boards (specifically the power board) with your bare hands/fingers. Either wait a bit until the capacitors have discharged or discharge them properly with a BIG resistor. Use common sense and you'll be fine.
