Bad AC adapter replaced, user re-dropped it, now no power.

The owner of this laptop had dropped it and it landed on the corner with the AC power input (while it was plugged in). This damaged the power jack inside the laptop, so I sourced a new part from ebay, replaced it, and it was working fine. A few days later the owner reported that she dropped the laptop again and now it doesn't charge. When I got it the battery was basically dead; I turned it on, got the "Gateway" boot screen for about a second, then it shut off. Subsequent attempts to turn it back on are met with failure.

I tested the power supply and it is putting out the correct voltage. I tested the power at the connector to the motherboard and it reads properly, no shorts or opens. There are a few status LEDs on the front of the laptop (e.g., battery charging status) but they're all dark, no status lights at all.

Where to go from here?

Technology - Simple, but complex.

It sounds like she broke it's last leg with the final drop. If the laptop isn't pulling a charge, I would've thought that the connector went bad even if it showing accurate readings. Then again, this may be more damage on the hardware like the motherboard if it is failing during or after POST. I had a Compaq laptop (remember those?) years ago and the same thing happened. I tried to fix it, ended up trashing it. Salvage the HDD or SSD, the RAM if it's usable (maybe that's causing the post crash? - Just a thought.) and tell her not to drop her next laptop.

There's not even a POST crash; it doesn't power up AT ALL. I've already done a data recovery of her drive. The memory isn't really worth much of anything, and the screen already had damage from previous abuse. I told her she needs to buy a Toughbook or a ThinkPad as her next machine.
