It is not, I bought a 3G digitizer for my 2G ipod touch and it is nearly exaclty the same but the connector does not fit =/

The digitizer for 8gb 3rd gen won`t work with the 2nd 8gb gen because the connections are not the same. ( looking at them now)

Well, I think the digitizer for the 8gb 3rd gen is the same as for the 8gb 2nd gen, but otherwise they are not compatible.. can anyone else confirm this? I'm pretty sure but don't have one in front of me now.
Yes that is correct, they have different connectors making them uncompatible (3rd gen cable is longer and connector is larger than than of the 2nd gen).
Yes I just confirmed it myself. The digitizer of an ipod 3g 8GB does not work with a 2g 8GB, the connector is smaller. don't even try to conect it cause you will break the connectors. ; )
