My ps4 has been bugging the heck out of me with the same problem for over a year. Then suddenly (after several restarts and a whole bunch of cursing) it starts behaving better for a little while. But it's only temporary. Eventually, it goes back to shutting down on its own, or starting on its own, or doing all kinds of crazy things. Right now it's going through the worse bout of malfunctioning to date. First off it won't stay shut down. To the point that I've had to unplug it when not in use. If it's plugged in, it keeps turning on by itself. Before today, it used to do it only sporadically. But now if I turn it off, it immediately kicks back on by itself. It won't even take a second. Also, if I choose to leave it on and try to use it, it bumps me out of the game or application or from whatever it is I am doing with it, and goes right back to the sign in screen. It's so annoying. And when I try to go back in, it keeps bumping me out over and over again. The controller also often won't work properly either, or decides to shut down or not recharge when connected to the ps4 for recharging. This prob is new since I never experienced that issue with the controllers before until today. This ps4 behaves as if it had a virus or something but I doubt that's the problem. I suspect these things have to be opened up periodically and cleaned in the inside, tho. Have the feeling the culprit is the accumulation of dust particles over time that perhaps causes it to behave all crazy like that. Problem is how do you clean the darn thing without really damaging it for good. Is there a video on YouTube or somewhere explaining how to clean PS consoles? I haven't searched but prob will have to coz I'm running out of patience here. I'm almost ready to do with this ps4 the same thing I did with its predecessor, the ps3. That one had some dust-induced bugging issues too but it died the day some jerk sent me a clever virus while playing COD s3veral years ago. Dude had hacked the game (he was absolutely un-killable often scoring 100 kills without dying even pnce and could move at the speed of light within the maps, literally) and he got upset because we told him to quit cheating and grow up or leave the game. A few minutes later there was a rather suspicious message in my console from him (it had his username, something like Bot something. The message looked like a pulsating icon, which I did not click coz I knew he was a game hacker and had no good intentions. But when I tried to delete it unopened, the machine immediately went berserk right there and then, and by the following day it had died entirely. I could never use it again. It was fried. So I grabbed the thing and it landed against the wall at like a hundred MPH. I still find tiny pieces of it under the furniture. My lesson was to never again confront a game hacker. They are like mean, stubborn children and will behave as such. Perhaps some are children.

Mine just shuts off random with the white light still on, and my controller acts like its dead, and I have to unplug it around 3 or 4 times before it'll turn on.
