ipad 2 update from itunes

When ipad was updating operatting system something.9 the power went out half way through and stopped updating.when i came back to it the screen says itunes,as in connect to, and nothing happens , not even capable of going back to previous version, or restore..ipad is completely nothinged...stuck with a itunes that even when i plug it in to itunes dosnt continue loading the new then operating system...no restore no memory and nothing but sthe itunes connect on the ipad screen...What to do?
