How do I fix an initialization error on my Nikon D40?

My Nikon D40 was dropped a few months ago and I replaced the screen. The camera turns on, but now it says to update the clock and when you try to do that, it says "Initialization error. Contact Nikon-authorized service representative." How do I fix this so I can start using my camera again?
