Why is my t.v. screen going blank

When I turn my t.v. on and press the remote to bring up the menu it comes up for a second and then just disappears and the screen keeps going blank

@natfixit11 does it only happen when you use the remote or on the menu? Tried different inputs? sounds like you are possibly having a backlight issue. Your TV is a 40PB200?

The green power indicator stays on I don't have the remote for the TV. Toshiba comes on the screen and then the screen goes black.

@molly austin Can you get a "universal remote" for testing?
