Home button damaged at ZIF connector

I needed to replace my battery. The screen cracked while trying to get it off, so I ordered a screen from here along with the necessary tools. After replacing the battery and getting ready to put the new screen in place, I realized the new screen didn't have a home button. I made an effort to remove the button assembly from the old screen to transfer to the new screen, however there was a mishap at the ZIF connector.

A chunk came off the area where it connects to the screen- the new screen has something tangible that the old screen no longer has. the cable was intact, but the connector was damaged. As I inspected the connector, holding it in a pair of tweezers, it broke in half.

I was looking online for a replacement, assuming this might be necessary, and all I see are aftermarket parts that indicate the biometrics either won't work or may not work. My question is just how severe is the extent of my damage and can I get by with most of my original part or does the whole thing need to be replaced? I really want to maintain Touch ID/biometric features. How badly am I screwed and if I need parts, where do I need to get them?

Do you mean this connector (Step 34)?

You can replace that connector via a micro-soldering repair but this is not a DIY repair unless you have lots of experience. If the Home Button Flex or button isn't damaged, then everything should be back to normal once repaired.
