TCL TV made loud pop and stopped working

I bought a TCL 55in 4K Roku TV about 3 months ago, and today while I was watching Netflix, it made a loud popping sound (like a breaker flipping) and then there was no power. I thought maybe my surge protector had flipped, but upon checking it everything was fine. I have tried unplugging the TV and plugging it back in, different power cords, even power cycling and nothing happens. Any idea what's going on or how I can fix it?

Did it fix by changing a single capacitor(R221K 1KV)? I saw that this capacitor burnt and will it fix just by replacing this capacitor or a better capacity(R221K 2kV)? Or When this capacitor pops, it also affect any other part?

Mine just did the same thing! Did this fix it?

Same thing happened to me but we saw smoke coming from the top left side of the TV set (65 in). At that moment we thought the TV was dead. The weird thing is that the TV set is still functional as if nothing happened. It's been a week and the TV is still working fine. Not sure what happened or what to do?

Nathan Armstrong could be an issue with the power board. this will be a case where you have to remove the back of your TV and take a good look at all the boards. I am certain you find something that does not look right. Post some image of your boards with your question so we can see what you see. Use this guide Ajout d'images à une question existante for that. Going by your description I would expect some capacitors, fuse and/or rectifier damage.

I experienced the same popping sound described on 65 inch TCL 4K tv . Took the set apart and found what appears to be a blown ceramic capacitor R221K. I can replace this component but concerned there is an underlying issue that caused this capacitor to fail. Any input would be appreciated on this.

Replace

The cap and go with a slightly higher capacitance. Then find out what is going on. You would need a schematic for your board to determine if and where a short may be. Without it you wont know which part of the circuitry the cap belongs to

I thought I posted back when this happened to me. I bought a replacement power board, very carefully replaced it myself, and now have gotten more use out of the replacement board than I did out of the one I had before. I bought my tv refurbished and something funky may have happened before it was in my possession. I highly recommend trying a new power board!

My TCL TV made a loud pop, and then sparks came out the bottom and side. Is it salvageable or should I start looking for a new TV?

Did you ever find an answer to this question. Same thing just happened to mine. Should I go shopping.

@robkrueger pull the back cover off and check your power board. It should be enough to replace that. These are not of great quality and have a tendency to "pop" often.

Nathan Armstrong sera éternellement reconnaissant.
