Completely dead, not charging, no DFU - possibility for revival?

My iPod nano 7G is just completely dead - black screen, not recognized by iTunes, not one sign of life. I know it does not charge, because it draws exactly 0 A from my USB power adapter (I have an USB power meter thingy). No DFU button combination works, just no sign of any life left. The charger and cable are confirmed working, there is no dirt in the lightning port. It does not get warm, as there is no current flowing.

Is there a solution to this? Is it even possible to diagnose and repair the defect that causes this problem?
