My tail lights will not turn on

I have a 2005 Toyota prius and my tail lights will not turn on but my breaks head lights and flashers work just checked fuse it was fine and changed the bulbs what can it be????

Casey Knight, check the T-LP relay. The T-LP relay Turns taillight and illumination on when it is actuated by taillight ONdemand signal via main body ECU. If that is okay and your bulbs and fuses are okay yo umay encounter an issue with the ECU. Here is the Lighting chapter Lighting.pdf to help you further troubleshoot your tail light issue. Hey oldturkey, I have the same issue. thanks for the tips on the tl-p relay. What are the visual signs of a bad relay? Or is it best to buy a new relay and replace it and see if that solves the issue? thanks!

@maxbailey a relay is just a switch. Always check the base of the relay and see if you have power coming to it when you activate the lights. If it got power to the base then it is most commonly the relay. Luckily these are pretty common and not very expensive ;-)
