Why is my drain pipe overflowing?
My washer has been causing overflow in the drain pipe. We used a Drain King on the pipe and ran a hose full blast down the pipe afterwards with no overflow problems. But when the washer drains, it continues to overflow. Having ruled out the drain pipe being the issue, I can only imagine that there is a drain sensor or the drain pump that is no longer inhibiting the flow to a rate that the pipe should be able to handle without overflowing. Thoughts?

we have this issue too. Washer is at least 10 years old. Only overflows at the beginning of draining. Then it doesn't overflow. Like there is too much water pressure initially.
Drain pipe is clear (again only during the initial beginning of draining the water does it overflow). Washer is against a exterior wall with cleanout just outside so we know it isn't plugged.

If the newer washing machines discharge pressure is too high for older drainage systems…. As posted by Mr. Philip Martinez!! I would think some type of warning should be given to the potential buyer…. So they would know that now…. The cost of buying the new washing machine…. Will also encompass the cost of upgrading the gray waters drainage system!! Which to me should have some type of Credit or Incentive included within the sale…. To go towards the cost of the gray waters drainage systems upgrading…. So it accommodates for the higher PSI’S of the new washing machine’s discharge… It’s the only fair thing to do…. I would think anyway!!
