Phone slows down then LCD is removed

I have unusual problem/question. I want to use my P20 without the screen via remote TeamViewer app, but as soon as I disconnect LCD ribbon cable phone slows down or even stops working. Anyone have ideas why? And how to avoid that? I’ve done that previous with iphone and samsung phones without any issues.

Sometimes devices expect to have something attached to them that although insignificant will impair their function in weird ways.

The closest example I can think of is lenovo laptops, which will throttle the CPU way down if it doesn't detect a valid power supply.

Also, why do you need to remove the LCD to use the P20 remotely without an LCD? Can't you just have it turn off the display but stay on?
