Why can't I change the volume of my UE2 BOOM speaker through my phone?

I have paired my iPhone 8 with UE2 Boom Speakers and they worked great until following an iOS update to my phone and from then on could no longer change the volume of my speakers on my iPhone when paired.

I have since updated the phone and have the latest iOS update and I have the latest software for the speakers through the Ultimate Ears app, have tried unpairing the speakers from Bluetooth and reconnecting them, doing factory reset of the speakers and nothing seems to work.

The only way I seem to be able to change volume is through the Ultimate Ears app, which means I have to have the app open as well as the song I am playing.

At the end of every song the volume defaults itself to zero. Any help appreciated.

Regards Den.

Does the volume slide from the Control Center (drag up) work?

I have a iPhone 7 Plus with the latest iOS & UE firmware 2.0.101 as well as 2.2.1 which works just fine. What is your firmware version?

My phone is at the latest iOS 12.2 and speakers at firmware v 2.2.1. I can change volume through the ultimate ears app only but not with the phone volume buttons or on the speaker buttons. Even with iTunes open with a song playing if I move the volume slider in either direction the volume drops right down. The volume will then go only from zero to about 5% and barely audible with the phone, iTunes or speaker volume controls and I can only change volume with the ultimate ears app.

Problem solved. I went back into ‘settings’ in my iPhone and after scrolling through to ‘music’ and scrolling down under the ‘playback’ heading there is a tab for ‘volume limit’ which had been inadvertently dragged down to near the lower end of the volume scale and was limiting the volume adjustment available on the phones volume buttons. I can now change volume via photo ne and the speaker. I didn’t make the changes but the problem coincided with an iOS update. Cheers Den

At this point I think you’ll need to try a friends iPhone to see if theirs work correctly with your Boom2.
