That assembly is damaged and need replacement. If you have any video that will make it easier to do.

Correction: for those seeking these directions, here is a video for replacing the requested COV hose assembly. The prior answer, posted 6/4/2019, is for the “user-replaceable” Internal Hose, where no tools or complex instructions are required.

The COV hose, prone to breakage after several years of service, requires a partial disassembly of the vacuum and Dyson does not publish instructions for this level of repair, though fortunately, they will sell the part and it is inexpensive.

You’ll need a T8 driver bit, a T15 driver bit and a needle nosed pliers (pliers is for opening the main cover on the ball). You will want access to a manual driver (screwdriver type) tool as some of the screws are into soft plastic and should not be reinstalled using a powered screwdriver.

A user-posted video can be found on youtube here, it’s a bit long but the comment quoted below will shorten the process: The bottom line is, undoing 6 screws, while adjusting the hose position a couple of times, will allow you to slide the old hose out and slide the new one in:

-Take note of this comment from a Dyson repair technician, as it saves time & effort (prevents all of the messing around with the springs):

“At 7.16 in the video you are referring to attaching the spring on the plastic lug. The plastic lug is part of a bracket held on by two small T8 screws, those two screws by your finger at 7.28 in the video. Undo them when you are removing everything and the whole thing comes away then you can leave the spring attached to the lug/bracket then when you put it back together place the bracket/lug back in place and put the two screws back in, therefore you don’t need to remove the spring from the lug at all and makes it so much easier.”

Lastly, quick instructions for removing the cover, using needle nosed pliers, are found here:
