What is that on both sides of rear camera

Please look at attached picture. What are these things on both side of rear side camera ? When I removed outside glass, I can see 2 holes on each side of camera lens.

I found YouTube video which indicates that those are proximity sensors. Is it true ? Isn't proximity sensor on front side of phone which detects when you place your phone near your ears and turns off device screen ?
