F40 code flashing on Kenmore elite oasis

My kenmore dryer started flashing F40. I researched the issue and was led to checking the m2 connector(which has a reading of 56.9 ohms) and checking both the thermal fuse and thermistor(both have been replaced) but nothing has fixed the problem..what now?

Looks like you have researched the issue. So it’s a wiring and/or contact issue. After you have gone over the wiring with a multimeter to check for continuity, I would start looking for burned areas on the control boards and/or cold solder joints.

Does it run at all? Does it cut off after a short duration period. What is your model number?

I had this same problem. Turns out it was caused by a bad relay on the main control board. It was getting hot and had melted the solder away from one of it's connection pins on the board. You can only see this by taking the board out of the housing to see the back side. A new relay is a super simple fix and you can buy a new one on Amazon for around $10. There are several good videos on YouTube that talk about the problem and show the fix. Research the code F 01 as that is often the actual problem but because of the lose of power from the relay to the motor control board it will often code an F 40 and send you looking in the wrong place.

Here's a link to the video that helped me. My dryer is a top load Oasis Elite and the one in the video is a front load. The configuration of the dryer or placement of the components doesn't matter. They're all extremely similar in operation and his explanation and repair were dead on exactly what was wrong with my Oasis Elite. Hope this is helpful https://youtu.be/aZWBjouDPuw

This next video will explain why replacing the thermo fuse won't help if it's actually the relay that is bad. F40 can send you down the wrong path looking for a solution sometimes when the actual problem is a F01. He does a pretty good job of explaining how it's possible to get F40 when it's actually an F01 issue. https://youtu.be/O39bylSfCXo

This can be caused by a loose wiring connection blown thermal fuse on the dryer, as well as a bad thermistor that is causing the dryer to overheat.

When installing a board go all around the edges to make 100% sure it is seated so that ALL contact points make a connection. Installation of those boards is a little tricky and I have had that problem and thought my board was bad. Wiggle and check any wires that attach to it too as those may not be fully seated.
